Goldie Hawn and her longtime partner Kurt Russell shared a kiss in their recent Valentineâs Day photo. In the caption, Hawn wrote, âđ¶ Love is a Many- Splendored thing đ¶ Happy Anniversary Loverboy â€ïžâđ„.â
The couple spoke to People Magazine about their relationship back in 2020, emphasizing their secret to lasting love. âYouâve just got to want to be together,â she said at the time. âI donât think thereâs any way other than do it.â
Russell chimed in with his thoughts, too, saying, âFor people like us, the marriage certificate wasnât going to create anything that otherwise we wouldnât have. I donât know. 40 years isnât enough to finally say, âWell I guessâŠâ â
âOur children got married,â Hawn interjects. âI mean, they didnât not get married. Oliverâs very happily married and Wyattâs very happily married. Katie got married once and that didnât work, and sheâs with this most amazing human and I donât know if sheâll marry again. The point is that we all tried marriage and sometimes marriage doesnât work.â
She continues, âItâs okay. Itâs not about the marriage. Itâs about the people and the relationship, and the will to stay together. And thatâs a big one because if you want it, you can have it. Youâve got to give things up, but the joy and the excitement of being together and touching the toes of somebody at night is really a nice feeling.â
Funny enough, it was actually Hawn that convinced her son, Oliver Hudson, to propose to his now-wife as he originally didnât want to get married. âI thought that the perfect relationship was Kurt and Mom,â he said at the time. âI mean, I was a child of divorce, that didnât work, and then I saw this working.â
It just goes to show ya, sometimes things are perfect the way they are.
