Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell recently welcomed a new bundle of joy into the world, and also shared an illustrated family portrait including her late dad Steve Irwin holding their new baby. It’s understandably touching and emotional to see such a picture, and Bindi wanted to document it on social media.
“Celebrating my first Mother’s Day. This day embodies the extraordinary gift of family. Thank you to ‘The Monkey Brush’ for bringing my family and Chandler’s together in these stunning works of art. I wish we could all be together but sometimes life has other plans. ❤️To my beautiful daughter, always know that you are loved beyond description,” Bindi captions the photo.

Debb Oliver, the artist behind this incredible portrait by The Monkey Brush, opened up a bit more on commissioning such a piece of artwork. “I’ve done so many moments that never happened over the years,” Oliver says. “I always tried to imagine what it means to the person who receives it. I believe I do now, because I wish this was an actual photo. More than anything.”

In a recent streaming special called Crikey! It’s a Baby, Bindi documented her experience on the journey to motherhood and becoming a new mom in the face of her father not being there to see it. “It’s hard knowing that she’ll never get to actually meet him, and it’s devastating because I’ll never get to watch that connection,” Bidni admits. “But I cannot wait to be able to tell beautiful Grace all of these stories about Dad, to be able to share with her what an amazing father he was… It’s hard that he’s not here because out of everyone in the world, he would’ve loved her the most. He would’ve loved her so much. But I think, in a way, he is still with us, and his heart and soul live on in all of us.”
