Basketball, business, and now…fishing? That’s right, Michael Jordan is a man of many talents and interests. Fishing happens to encompass both. While aboard his Catch 23 boat, Jordan participated in part of a major fishing tourney. This tournament has some big stakes at play. But Jordan is already poised for a nice victory with the fish his team caught.

One major triumph came when the businessman and basketball star reeled in a massive blue marlin. The fish weighed in at 442.3 pounds. The reel is part of the 62nd Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, based in North Carolina. That’s quite the catch!

Jordan wore a big smile on his face on Tuesday, which is when he and the crew reeled in the 442.3-pound blue marlin. TMZ Sports points out how Jordan’s boat is also an impressive sight on its own. Indeed, it is, with an elephant print to match those associated with the Jordan 3 shoe.

He’s come a long way with further to go

Though Jordan’s catch weighed a remarkable 442.3 pounds, it’s a little over 50 pounds lighter than the one in first place / YouTube screenshot

This isn’t actually Michael Jordan’s first foray into fishing. In 2019, Jordan participated in the White Marlin Open, which featured a similar theme. During a post-catch interview, though, Jordan revealed his eagerness to get fishing again. He realizes he has to work hard if he wants to win the $3.4 million on the line as prize money.

Already, Jordan’s prospects look good, but he’s right to want to work hard still. His team’s catch placed them in 5th place out of everyone else fishing for marlin. That itself is commendable, but keep in mind, the person in first place caught a 494.2-pound fish. That’s a difference of over 50 pounds he’ll have to account for. But from the excited look Jordan wore, he isn’t too worried.
