You’ll Never Look at Wire Hangers the Same Way Again!

by Fabrizio Nava

Published January 14, 2016

Mommie Dearest is a 1981 American biographical drama film about Joan Crawford and the abusive relationship she had with her adopted daughter Christina Crawford and her adopted son Christopher, starring Faye Dunaway, Mara Hobel and Diana Scarwid.

I was always really freaked out by the wire coat hanger scene. One thing is certain: You’ll never look at a wire hanger the same way again!   Below is one of the most horrifying Dunaway’s portrayal of Crawford ranked as the #41 villain on AFI’s list of 100 Heroes and Villains and Dunaway’s line “No wire hangers, ever!” ranked #72 on AFI’s list of 100 Movie Quotes.
