Pat Sajak stepped back into the spotlight this week for a special reason. The longtime Wheel of Fortune host, who retired from the game show in 2024, appeared at a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony honoring Air Supply’s Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock.

According to People, the Pat Sajak rare appearance gave fans a glimpse of the 79-year-old television legend in retirement while also showing a more personal side of his life. Sajak explained that he and his wife, Lesly Brown, are longtime friends with the musicians and that he was especially happy to help celebrate their milestone.

During his speech, Sajak reflected on what it takes to stay successful for decades. He joked that he knows “a little bit about longevity” after hosting Wheel of Fortune for more than 40 years, then praised Air Supply for maintaining a career that has stretched beyond five decades.

Sajak said the duo continues to connect with audiences because they still perform at a high level and never rely on reputation alone. He also noted that Air Supply’s music has become part of important memories for fans, including first dates and first dances. After speaking, he posed for photos with Russell and Hitchcock as they received their star.

The Pat Sajak rare appearance comes more than two years after his final regular episode of Wheel of Fortune aired in June 2024. Sajak began hosting the game show in 1981 and spent more than four decades becoming one of the most familiar faces in American television. When he announced his retirement, Sajak described his time on the show as a “wonderful ride.” Although he stepped away from hosting duties, Sony Pictures Television said he would remain involved with the program as a consultant for three years.

Sajak never fully left the Wheel of Fortune family, but his public appearances have become rarer since retirement. Seeing him at a major Hollywood event brought nostalgia for longtime viewers. The ceremony also felt fitting: Sajak spent more than 40 years on one show, while Air Supply has performed for more than 50. His tribute highlighted that shared longevity and reminded fans that he remains connected to the entertainment world he helped shape.
