George Hamilton marked his 87th birthday with exactly the kind of charm fans have come to expect from him. The longtime actor shared a cheerful video message after receiving a flood of birthday wishes, thanking everyone who reached out and revealing that he had a particularly fitting celebration planned.

According to People, rather than spending the day quietly at home, Hamilton said he was heading to Memphis to visit Graceland. The actor appeared genuinely touched by the messages he received and reflected on how grateful he felt to have reached 87. He also slipped in a joke about spending many more years “tanning” with fans, a playful nod to the bronzed look that has become part of his public image.

Hamilton celebrated his birthday on August 12 and took time to thank fans for their calls and messages. In his video, he said he planned to visit Elvis Presley’s famous Graceland estate in Memphis and expected to have a great time. His message carried the easygoing humor that has followed him throughout much of his career.

His son, George Hamilton Jr., also joined the celebration with a warm social media tribute. He called his father the “King of Cool” and praised the personality that has kept people laughing for decades. The post added a family touch to the occasion and showed that Hamilton’s sense of humor clearly remains one of the qualities those closest to him appreciate most.

Long before his tan became almost as famous as his acting career, George Hamilton was building an impressive résumé in Hollywood. Talent scouts discovered him while he was still in high school in Palm Beach, Florida, launching a career that took off in the late 1950s. He went on to appear in films such as Home from the Hill, Where the Boys Are, Love at First Bite, and The Godfather Part III.

Over time, Hamilton became known not only for his screen work but also for his polished style, humor, and larger-than-life personality. He has often spoken openly about the many changes he has witnessed in Hollywood and the unexpected turns his own life has taken. In a 2016 interview, he reflected on his long career and described his life as extraordinary, even after facing difficult moments and thoughts about mortality. At 87, Hamilton seemed focused on enjoying the moment. With a Graceland trip, fan messages, and his trademark humor, the celebration felt perfectly in character.
