Mötley Crüe’s lead singer, Vince Neil, made headlines recently after circulating videos showing his Learjet 35A aircraft plowing into another at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. The private jet could be seen crashing into a parked plane after skidding off the runway due to a landing gear failure. While Neil was not on the aircraft, the plane crash reportedly killed one person, leaving four badly injured and in need of attention. Those affected include the two pilots, Neil’s girlfriend, Rain Hannah, and her other friend on board. However, the victim who died was not disclosed.
In the video, the jet skidded along the tarmac after landing,g with its nose hitting the concrete just before colliding with the Israel Aircraft Industries Gulfstream 200 in front of it. Neil’s plane hit the bigger aircraft from the side with such impact that it moved forward a bit. The ensuing statement from Neil relayed his thoughts and prayers for those impacted by the plane crash and his appreciation to first responders for their swift action. Reports say there was another injured person in the parked aircraft; however, they refused medical treatment.
Vince Neil’s plane crash left the few on board badly wounded
The plane crash reportedly left Neil’s girlfriend Hannah with five broken ribs, and the Scottsdale Fire Department Captain Dave Folio added that someone was trapped in Neil’s jet but was soon freed by first responders. The said person was immediately transported to a trauma center. There were also dogs on board; however, no reports have stated that they got harmed. The Learjet 35A and the Gulfstream 200 eventually got separated earlier this week, showing dents and missing parts on both planes. The former was mostly impacted with its wheels found yards away and its cockpit caved in on one side.
Longtime aviation worker and eyewitness Gordan Johnson said he saw the Learjet 35A’s front landing gear collapse before the crash happened. The runway closed all afternoon on Monday and remained so until 10:40 pm, giving ample time to save those on board and clear up the mess. Social media users have left comments about the incident while showing concerns about the recent plane crashes lately. “Very sad these accidents, I do not remember so many air accidents in such a short time,” someone wrote, while another argued that plane crashes have always been frequent, but the media hardly reported them. “There are always this many, they are just getting more media coverage right now so regular people are noticing them more,” they explained, inducing backlash from those who disagreed.
What really happened to Vince Neil’s private plane?
The crash is still under investigation by The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and while speculations point to landing gear failure, some people have argued it might be blown tires. “The other angle looks like the tire blew just after touchdown,” an X user pointed out. “Doesn’t look that bad… no explosions or rolling flames… we’ve seen hella worse than that… but what the hell happened exactly…?” Another confused person asked while someone else said it looked like the gear wheel broke or the tire burst because the plane went out of control on approaching the other parked aircraft.
More updates say Neil’s plane, which is registered to the Wyoming-based company he directs, Chrome, was arriving from Austin, Texas. As social media users have highlighted, there has been a drastic rise in major aircraft crash reports this year in the US, starting with the mid-air collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, DC, on January 29. Sadly, there were no survivors, and among those lost were figure skaters from the Skating Club of Boston returning from a training camp in Wichita.
