A bitter legal battle has been ongoing since Richard Simmons’ died in July, as his longtime housekeeper and friend, Teresa Reveles, accused his brother, Lenny Simmons, of cheating her out of the trust. Amid the chaos, Teresa remained in Richard’s home despite having hers nearby until recently.
She accused Lenny of trying to profit off her late friend’s image by making a documentary about him, adding that he also plans to sell Richard’s home, hence why she is being protective. Teresa unknowingly signed away her co-trustee role, noting that Lenny took advantage of her vulnerability and made her do it.
Richard Simmons’ housekeeper leaves with millions amid court case
Lenny claims Teresa made away with over $1 million worth of jewelry, artwork, watches, and valuables from Richard’s home. She was allegedly in talks with Netflix for a $2 million deal towards the late fitness guru’s documentary, despite accusing Lenny of attempting a similar move.
Court papers state that Teresa’s conduct makes her a terrible selection for co-trustee, as she has refused to return Richard’s personal effects that may be required to pay taxes and cover expenses in the long run. Her counsel has yet to confirm if she will be returning the items, but Lenny is willing to file a petition via the court to that effect.
Insider accuses Teresa Reveles of greed
One of Richard’s friends spoke up against Teresa, noting that she is just mad about not being in control and is overcome by greed. They added that Teresa is simply the maid and should not be involved with Richard’s actual family over his estate.
Years before Richard’s death, conspiracy theorists alleged that Teresa held him hostage for years, which explains why he vanished from the public eye in 2014. When the late TV personality returned from his decade-long hiatus this year, he claimed he had a knee- replacement surgery that affected his ability and just wanted to be left alone for a while.
