Due to the strenuous activity she had undertaken weeks before, which involved moving tons of books on her own during recent book signing events in Nashville. Gifford noted that this exertion likely contributed to the vulnerability of her pelvis as the muscles that were supposed to support her were fatigued already, thus making the injury from the fall more severe.

The Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! actress also revealed that suffering a broken pelvis was the most excruciating experience she had ever endured. The severity of the injury required her to stay in the hospital for an entire week.
Reflecting on the challenging time, Gifford, who is now showing a good prognosis, mentioned that the incident prompted a profound reassessment of her life. She realized that she was aging and that her body was undergoing changes, which required her to adopt a more cautious approach to her activities.
