Joan Collins got fans and critics talking with her recent social media post featuring a throwback photo of herself in a short preppy dress. Joan had showed off her long legs in the plaid black and white outfit, which she accompanied with white heels and a black belt.
The photo was not the subject of discussion, but Joan’s caption reads, “Have women’s bodies changed? Decades ago most women had naturally small #waists. Is this trend coming back?” Fans expressed their displeasure and mixed feelings about the Dynasty star’s statement, while some tried to educate her in the comments.

While many gushed about Joan’s younger look, some of her followers, particularly women, had contrasting thoughts about her caption. “They had great corsets and rationing! And KK has had surgery to move stuff about!” someone wrote while making reference to Kim Kardashian, who famously showed off her cinched waist at the recent MET Gala event.

Another explained to Joan that the ‘50s and ‘60s were a healthier time with less processed food and GMO fruit and vegetables. “More people ate food cooked at home, so we knew what the ingredients were and it was very rare to find fast food. And children played outside and moved and were not stationary in front of screens,” they retorted.
Some social media users thought that ladies in Joan’s youthful era had to be unhealthy to meet up with societal standards at the time. “Skinny is not necessarily healthy. We need to embrace a healthy lifestyle and eating habits,” someone insisted. “Love u Joan but kids growing up in UK and Europe in WW2 era tended to be on the smaller side due in part to food scarcity and nutritional deficiencies,” another argued.

Speaking of maintaining a slim appearance, Joan advised women her age to eat less to maintain their looks. “You need half the food at 50 as you ate at 25. “Half as much again at 75. I’m going to live to be 100,” she told Daily Express last year. She also encouraged eating eggs and broccoli as snacks, and “a little” exercise every day to keep trim. This lifestyle seems to work for the Hollywood Golden Age sweetheart who claims to have only done Botox once but never gone under the knife.
