It has been seven years since Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher died. However, her daughter and granddaughter still carry on her legacy as the galaxyโs Princess Leia. Billie Lourd and her one-year-old, Jackson, spent Saturday at Saviโs Workshop in Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California, to celebrate โStar Wars Day.โ
Billie shared photos from the annual fan holiday moment to Instagram, featuring herself and Jackson with a lightsaber as they paid tribute to the space-based classic. Star Wars fans took to the comments to gush about the adorable snap, while the official Star Wars page also acknowledged the shot. โRoyalty forever,โ they stated.

Ahead of the fan holiday, Billie divulged to PEOPLE what installment of the Star Wars franchise was her favorite, which is something she shares in common with her late mom and co-star. The 31-year-old film star, who starred alongside Carrie as Lieutenant Connix, voted for 1980โs Empire Strikes Back.

Carrie seemed to have other competing favorites like A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. However, she thought it best to take Carrieโs side. Carrieโs fans also expressed their gratitude to Billie for raising Jackie to acknowledge the classic and her grandmotherโs legacy. โYouโll probably never see this but your mom was one of my greatest inspirations,” someone stated. “May the 4th be with you, and her memory live on forever.โ
Growing up, Billie was inspired to finally see Star Wars because the boys at school would not keep quiet about Carrie. โThey fantasized about my mom. My mom? They couldnโt be talking about her! I had to investigate who this person was they were talking about,โ she stated for Time Magazine. She then came to terms with Carrieโs fame, as well as the cult following she had.
After college, Billie auditioned for a role in the iconic Sci-Fi series and landed the part of โLittle Lieutenant Connix.โ The mother of two further bonded with Carrie beyond her role as a parent. She recalled her mom to be dotting on set, which sometimes felt humiliating as she would get asked about her well-being. Years later, and now having her kids, Billie admitted to her recent realization that Carrie was only being โprotective.โ
