The Paris Fashion Week gave a new definition to the beauty standard by promoting the natural look and gray hair from gorgeous older women. Pamela Anderson showed off her glowing skin by ditching makeup, while Andie MacDowell and Dame Helen Mirren rocked their silver locks.
As simple as it looks, these simple outfits and appearances take a lot of work and hours of styling and this comes as no surprise— it is fashion week. However, this change that is being adopted by brands and celebrities is aimed at making aging more acceptable.
Celebrating the aging process
As shown by L’Oreal while featuring older women on their runway in Paris, other beauty brands like Studio 10, Tropic Skincare, Clarins, and Look Fabulous Forever have previously joined the “pro-aging” movement, letting women know it is okay to rock the graying hair and changing body.

Although in Hollywood, most female celebrities bank on their appearance as professional currency, women like Pamela Anderson are leading the charge to throw up cosmetics. “You have to challenge beauty sometimes,” she explained in a recent interview. “If we all chase youth, or we’re all chasing our idea of what beauty is in fashion magazines and everything, we’re only going to be disappointed.”
Jamie Lee Curtis and other female celebrities are impressed by the movement
Other women in show business are catching on to the pro-aging trend that celebrates the natural process of growing older. Scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis considered it courageous that women in the industry would move towards simplicity. “This woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion,” she said of Pamela.
Lately, more people have been showing off their makeup-free faces on social media, as well as their gray hair and transforming skin. One of the biggest influences in fashion, Iris Apfel, recently celebrated her 102nd birthday on Instagram, wearing her usual accessories and attention-grabbing outfits.
