Helen Mirren has an unbeatable career spanning almost six decades and through it all she has possessed as much grace and beauty as the day before. Most recently, she was seen sporting a bright, floral skirt that had her looking positively summery throughout the day as autumn encroaches.
Mirren may have several consecutive award wins to her name and be descended from actual royalty, but she’s never shied away from living simply and doing very hands-on work. Her outfit reflects this much, as did the casual way she spent her day.

On Friday, Mirren was spotted traveling about West Hollywood wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt over a long flowery skirt. Dame Mirren wore her gray hair in a loose, low ponytail secured with a thick pale gold tie. Silver hoops and a plane necklace were her only adornment of choice that day.

It was a perfect visual representation for the fondness she has both for flowers and for gardening, which she does herself. Not only does it help her mentally, but Mirren insists it also makes her a better actress because of how humbling the act is.
Mirren has unique but effective advice
“It’s good for an actor to have the cobwebs and ego and insecurity go away for a little,” mused Mirren. This state of mind is all thanks to tending her garden firsthand, with no middle-man. “I think gardening probably helps me be a better actor,” she shared. “It kind of cleans your brain. You can’t have an ego with a garden. The f—ing plant just won’t grow where you want it to grow.”
Not only is she a good actor; Mirren remains a very busy actor. Since starting in ’66, Mirren has continued to work to this day. Just this year, she appeared in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Fast X, and Barbie.
She’s also just wrapped a highly anticipated performance as Israel’s first and only female head of government in Golda. Golda has been the subject of some controversy because Mirren is not Jewish. Movie director Guy Nattiv defended the casting choice but in the wake of some viral debates, Mirren has called the criticisms “utterly legitimate.”
Golda was released in the United States on August 25.
