If you need a treat today, head to your nearest Ben & Jerry’s to get a free ice cream cone! Today is Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day, available only on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. It starts at noon and will be available at participating locations until 8 p.m.
This year, in addition to getting a free ice cream cone today, you can also enter to win ice cream for an entire year! The contest is open for a few days, until April 11, 2019. All you have to do is enter your name, email address, and answer a trivia question on Ben & Jerry’s website. Enter the contest here!
You can get any available Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavors for free today. You can also get back in line and get another free cone as many times as you want! However, most locations have a very long line because, well, FREE ice cream! You’ll get one free scoop in one of their delicious cones.
Free Cone Day started in 1979 after their first successful year of business. The first Ben & Jerry’s brick and mortar location was in Burlington, Vermont. The building that it was in was originally a gas station. Have you ever been to the first-ever location of Ben & Jerry’s?
According to TODAY, CEO Matthew McCarthy said this about Free Cone Day, “We’re nothing without our fans. This is one of our favorite days of the year. It’s a special tradition, and I can’t wait to see all the smiles and happiness Free Cone Day brings. It’s all about saying thank you to our fans.”
Generally, Ben & Jerry’s gives away over 1 million free scoops of ice cream around the world on this day every year. That is a lot of ice cream!
