Wolfgang claimed that seeing his father’s health deteriorate was a heart-wrenching experience, but he chose to stay by his side throughout his struggles till he peacefully passed away. Wolfgang is always grateful for being there in his dad’s final moment because Eddie made it memorable with his touching last words. “The last thing he ever said to me was ‘I love you,'” Wolfgang recalled.

Wolfgang further talked about the profound impact his father’s death had on him, expressing how deeply it affected him emotionally. The bassist has always idolized his father and “looked up to” him as “a pillar of strength,” so losing him left him with an unexplainable feeling.

He cherishes his father’s memories by carrying some of Eddie’s ashes in a necklace he wears close to his heart. He also added that he fulfilled his dad’s wishes by scattering the remaining ashes in the Pacific Ocean near their hometown of Malibu, California.
