Bah, Humbug! Remembering Our Favorite Holiday Scrooges

What winter holiday season would be complete without the mention of the Charles Dickens masterpiece, “A Christmas Carol”? None! For most of us at least.

Every winter we are reminded to put forth good will towards all men via the learning experiences of one particular cold-hearted man, Ebenezer Scrooge. Through him and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future we are reminded to learn from our mistakes and that true change is possible when it comes from the heart.

Today on DoYouRemember we’re looking back at our favorite representations of the man, who for better or worse helped teach us about the true meaning of Christmas. We’re looking back at our favorite Scrooges!

An American Christmas Carol, 1979

In 1979’s An American Christmas Carol, the man behind the Fonz (Heeey!) gives us his best Scrooge as he plays Benedict Slade.

Bugs Bunny’s Christmas Carol, 1979

Yosemite Sam voiced by Mel Blanc did us the honors in 1979’s Bugs Bunny’s Christmas Carol.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol, 1983

And who can forget everyone’s favorite, but morally questionable, Disney character Scrooge McDuck (voiced by Alan Young) as you know who in 1983’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol.

A Jetson’s Christmas Carol, 1985

Lets not forget when Cosmo Spacely (voiced by Mel Blanc), boss of George Jetson turned into a Scrooge himself in “A Jetson Christmas Carol,” 1985.

Scrooged, 1988

Remember Bill Murray’s funny version of Scrooge as Frank Cross in Scrooged?

The Muppets Christmas Carol, 1992

Taking the more traditional route in 1992’s The Muppet Christmas Carol, Michael Caine‘s Scrooge interpretation was one for the books.

Ebbie, 1995

And then came Susan Lucci as Elizabeth “Ebbie” Scrooge in Ebbie (1995), proving that a She-Scrooge was kind of even scarier than the original.
