Savannah Guthrie has been one of the most recognizable faces on the Today show for years. Her calm presence and thoughtful reporting have made her a trusted voice for millions of viewers who tune in each morning.

Recently, however, the Today show anchor stepped away from the broadcast as her family faced a painful situation. Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared earlier this year, leaving the family searching for answers. In the middle of that difficult time, Guthrie briefly returned to the Today show studio to reconnect with her colleagues and thank them for their support.

Savannah Guthrie stopped by the Today show studio on March 5. It marked the first time she had visited since her mother went missing. Her appearance was not a return to the broadcast desk, but it carried emotional meaning for the longtime host.

According to People, a spokesperson for the program explained that Guthrie visited simply to thank the team who works beside her every morning. The statement also confirmed that she plans to return to the Today show on air in the future. For now, she continues to focus on helping her family during the search for her mother.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on January 31 after sharing dinner with family members. Concern grew the next day when she missed a scheduled virtual church service. Family members soon reported her missing, which prompted a major investigation.

Authorities later released surveillance images from a doorbell camera at Nancy’s Tucson home. The footage showed a masked person approaching the front door on the night of the disappearance. During an interview that aired on the Today show, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators are getting closer to identifying possible suspects. Meanwhile, the Guthrie family has increased the reward to $1 million for information that could lead to Nancy’s recovery or an arrest.
