The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has taken a dramatic turn, deepening the urgency surrounding the ongoing search. Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show cohost Savannah Guthrie, vanished after family members dropped her off at her Catalina Foothills home near Tucson on January 31. Now, authorities have detained a person for questioning in connection with the Nancy Guthrie investigation. According to Yahoo! Entertainment, the development raises new questions about a possible Nancy Guthrie suspect, though officials have stopped short of confirming formal charges.
Nancy Guthrie Investigation Intensifies After Traffic Stop

On Tuesday, deputies stopped an individual south of Tucson and took that person in for questioning. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed the detention, stating, “The subject is currently being questioned in the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” and promised additional updates as new details emerge. Investigators have not publicly identified the individual or clarified whether they consider the person a confirmed Nancy Guthrie suspect.

Earlier that same day, the FBI released newly recovered doorbell footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home. The images show what officials described as an armed individual wearing a ski mask and gloves. FBI Director Kash Patel said law enforcement uncovered the footage from residual backend data, revealing someone who appeared to tamper with the front door camera. Authorities have not confirmed whether the detained individual matches the person seen in the video.
Nancy Guthrie Case Complicated By Ransom Note

The case grew even more troubling when several news outlets received a ransom note demanding $6 million in bitcoin. Law enforcement officials have not verified the note’s authenticity and have not confirmed direct contact between the Guthrie family and any suspected kidnappers. Investigators continue to evaluate every lead as they determine whether the note connects to a legitimate Nancy suspect.
