Published September 30, 2025

More than fifty years have passed since The Brady Bunch charmed television audiences. Yet one small line from the series continues to follow Christopher Knight, who played middle son Peter Brady.

Fans often ask him to repeat his famous “pork chops and applesauce” phrase, and he never turns them down. In a September interview, the 67-year-old actor said he enjoys the request. “You will get no resistance from me,” Christopher Knight explained, adding that the moment always seems to bring comfort and smiles.

The Origin Of A Classic Moment

Parade reports that Christopher Knight first delivered the line in the 1971 episode “The Personality Kid.” Peter Brady tried to reinvent himself with a more interesting personality. Inspired by Humphrey Bogart, he repeated the dinner menu in a playful impression: “Pork chops and applesauce… isn’t that swell.”

The lighthearted moment quickly stood out. Knight admitted that he didn’t understand why it became so popular at first. Over time, he realized that viewers connected with the humor and warmth it brought. He later embraced the legacy fully, even naming one of his production companies Pork Chop Phenomenon.

Christopher continues to be linked with pork chops in daily life. When he eats out, waiters often suggest their best pork chop if they recognize him. Instead of being tired of the connection, Knight enjoys it. He even calls himself a pork chop fan who takes the association with pride.

In 2018, Christopher joined his niece on her YouTube channel, Chasing Down Madison Brown. There, he shared a simple four-ingredient recipe for pork chops and applesauce. He also repeated the line for fans once more. The combination of cooking and nostalgia showed how his most famous Brady Bunch moment still feels fresh after five decades.
