Dolly Parton has always put her fans first, but recently, the country music legend had to take a step back for her health. According to Fox News, Parton was unable to attend a Dollywood celebration for the park’s latest attraction, the Night Flight Expedition ride. In a video message shared during the event, she explained her absence, citing a kidney stone and subsequent infection that required her to rest.
“Hello Dollywood! It’s me,” she told attendees in her signature warm style. Though she wasn’t able to be there in person, she reassured guests she was with them in spirit. According to Fox News, Parton also expressed disappointment at missing the unveiling, explaining that her doctor urged her to take a few days to recover before traveling again.
Dolly Parton’s Special Bond With Dollywood
Over the years, Dollywood has become more than a theme park—it’s a symbol of Parton’s connection to her fans and her Smoky Mountain roots. Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the park is filled with attractions that reflect her music, career, and personal history. Parton’s presence at major Dollywood events has always been a highlight for visitors, making her absence this time especially notable.
Despite missing the opening of the Night Flight Expedition, Parton’s video message carried her familiar warmth. She reminded fans that while she couldn’t attend due to health reasons, her spirit remains deeply tied to Dollywood and the community that supports it. Her heartfelt message kept the celebration in tune with her legacy of joy and gratitude.
A Difficult Year For Dolly Parton
Parton’s health setback comes during an already challenging year. In March, she lost her husband of more than 60 years, Carl Dean, at the age of 82. Just two weeks after his passing, she surprised fans with an appearance at Dollywood’s Celebrity Theater for the park’s 40th anniversary, showing her remarkable strength in the face of grief.
Still, the beloved star admitted in later interviews that she is taking time to process the loss. Parton explained that while she has plenty of new ideas, the emotions are too raw for her to dive into songwriting just yet. For both her career and her role at Dollywood, she continues to balance public appearances with moments of personal healing, reminding fans of her resilience and devotion.
