Jane Fonda Allegedly Planning Final Days, Reveals Special Burial Plans

by Ruth A

Published September 10, 2025

Jane Fonda has spent decades in the spotlight, celebrated both as a Hollywood legend and as a passionate activist. Now at 87, she is opening up about her final chapter, from her family relationships to her burial wishes. With honesty and grace, the Oscar-winning actress is preparing for her twilight years while seeking peace with her loved ones.

According to The Express, Jane Fonda wants her last days to be simple and close to family. Instead of cremation or a traditional casket, she has chosen to be wrapped in a plain sheet and buried in a natural field beside her second husband, author Tom Hayden. This decision reflects her concern for the environment and her wish to remain connected to those she loves after death.

Jane Fonda has been clear about what she wants. She rejected cremation because of its harmful emissions. She also ruled out a wooden coffin, saying she prefers a drought-resistant field with native grasses and no headstones. She plans to rest next to Hayden, who was laid to rest in Santa Monica in 2016, creating a lasting bond between them.

The actress said she hopes her children will find comfort in having one place to gather. “I don’t want the kids to have to go to different places to commune with us,” she explained. She added that she believes people can commune with the dead, showing how her spiritual and environmental beliefs shape even her most personal decisions.

Jane Fonda views mortality as a guide, not a fear. She admitted she thinks about death often, believing it gives greater meaning to life. “I want to end it with no regrets,” she reflected, calling this stage her “last act.” She hopes to pass peacefully at home, surrounded by love.

She has also turned her focus toward her children—Vanessa, Troy, and Mary. Fonda admitted she has not been a perfect parent and returned to therapy to heal old wounds. “I don’t want to have regrets,” she said. “So I’ve gone into therapy. So I won’t have any regrets, and I’ll understand what it was all about.” Even at 87, Jane Fonda continues to grow, proving her legacy goes far beyond film.
