Before his passing, Graham Greene expressed a heartfelt wish to reconnect with his longtime friend and costar, Kevin Costner. According to TMZ, the actor wanted to personally thank Costner for the way he represented Native people in film throughout his career. Sadly, Greene never got that chance before his death.

Greene, who rose to fame through his Academy Award-nominated role as Kicking Bird in Dances With Wolves, left a lasting mark in Hollywood. He was 73 when he passed away after a lengthy illness, with his wife Hilary by his side. His representative, Michael Greene, emphasized that the actor wanted people to remember he had “a great life” and looked forward to more discoveries even in the afterlife.

One of Graham Greene’s dying wishes was to speak with Kevin Costner, but his team was unable to make it happen. Costner, however, offered his own tribute after the actor’s passing. On social media, he shared a moving scene from Dances With Wolves, calling Greene “a master at work and a wonderful human being.” Costner reflected on how his costar was able to convey so much emotion with few words, creating a lasting cinematic bond.

Their collaboration in the 1990 epic marked a turning point in both their careers. Greene’s portrayal of Kicking Bird not only brought him critical acclaim but also deepened public appreciation for indigenous representation in film. Costner’s vision and Greene’s performance together helped establish a more respectful portrayal of Native culture in Hollywood at the time.
