Happy Gilmore 2 Is Here — And It’s A Nostalgic Hole-In-One

by Ruth A

Published July 28, 2025

After nearly 30 years, the loudmouthed underdog of golf is back. Happy Gilmore 2 has officially landed on Netflix, bringing Adam Sandler’s iconic character back to the green with new laughs, old rivalries, and a surprising amount of heart. Fans of the 1996 original will find plenty to love in this long-awaited sequel.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, Sandler returns to the role that helped define his early career. The movie not only serves up outrageous comedy but also honors the first film’s legacy with callbacks, cameos, and the same scrappy spirit. Happy Gilmore 2 proves that some stories are worth revisiting—even if they come with a few more wrinkles and a lot more putters.

In Happy Gilmore 2, Happy is older, slightly wiser, and still as impulsive as ever. Now coaching a new generation of hot-headed golfers, he gets pulled back into competition when an arrogant rival threatens his legacy. Sandler doesn’t miss a beat, slipping back into character with the same fire and unpredictability fans remember.

The movie blends slapstick humor with just enough emotion to give the story weight. Happy’s growth is subtle but present, and the script makes room for old friends and familiar one-liners. While some jokes lean heavily on nostalgia, the tone remains energetic and fresh enough to entertain both new viewers and longtime fans.

A Sequel That Honors the Original

One of the biggest strengths of Happy Gilmore 2 is how well it balances new material with heartfelt tributes. The late Carl Weathers, who played Chubbs, is remembered with a touching moment that adds depth without slowing the film’s pace. Cameos from familiar faces also keep the energy high and the laughs consistent.

Ultimately, Happy Gilmore 2 succeeds because it doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. It knows exactly what kind of movie it is—and delivers on that promise. For anyone who grew up quoting the original, this sequel feels like a welcome reunion on the fairway.
