At 72, Roseanne Barr has made major changes and moves. While many might picture retirement as quiet afternoons and a rocking chair, she’s out on her land in Texas, mowing fields and living her best outdoor life. But this new chapter hit a bump recently when she found herself stuck under a heavy tree branch during a routine mow.
In a chat with Fox News Digital, the comedian and former Roseanne star shared what it’s been like to move away from the spotlight and settle into her version of paradise — one that is complete with tractors, trees, and a few unexpected challenges. “Texas is a dream come true,” she said.

However, during one of her regular rides on her “fantastic tractor,” a large tree branch came crashing down, trapping her in the machine. “I knew I had to get out,” she explained, describing how she slowly moved the branch “inch by inch” until she was free. Even with the scare, Roseanne didn’t give up. “I just said my mighty prayers that always work,” she said.
She believes her strength came from above and maybe a little from her Russian roots. “I wanted to harness all this strong Russian energy,” she joked, proud of managing the heavy lifting herself. And despite what happened, she’s still riding that tractor. Her 30-acre property needs attention, and she’s not one to sit still.
Roseanne Barr has moved on from her viral mistake
Barr also talked about her past controversies, including the tweet in 2018 that got her fired from her hit show. At the time, she says, she was angry and trying to make a point about politics. “I thought people would get it, but they didn’t. Sometimes, my brain spins out of control.”
She explained that her TV audience always understood her humor, but on Twitter, things went wrong. “I misread the room,” she said. Since then, she’s leaned on her faith to move forward. “God gets me through all my mess-ups.” As for her old castmates from Roseanne? She says she’s not in touch with any of them. “I’ve moved on. I wish them well, but I’m not going back.” With her new documentary coming out and her hands still full on the ranch, Roseanne Barr is proof that life doesn’t end at 70.
