Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson stepped back into the spotlight at the 2025 American Music Awards with grace, power, and a message that stretched beyond music. After seven years away from live TV performances, the 59-year-old star rocked the stage again.

She didn’t just perform at The AMAs, Held on May 26 at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas; Jackson received the prestigious Icon Award. But even as she accepted it, she made one thing clear: fame was never the goal. “We weren’t raised to chase fame,” she said. “We just had a deep love for music, dancing, and singing.”

In Jackson’s appreciation speech, she spoke of staying true to her roots and hoped her journey would inspire her to chase their dreams, just as she had. Jackson also added that her story and her family’s could only happen in America, where dreams, hard work, and dedication come together. She ended with a reminder: “Keep God in every part of your life, because that’s where He wants to be.”

But before the speech came the performance. Jackson gave a performance that reminded fans why she’s a pop powerhouse. She opened with “Someone to Call My Lover,” then moved smoothly into “All For You.” Jackson danced with the same confidence and control that made her a star decades ago. Her dancers moved with her as fountains lit up the Vegas stage. The energy was simply electric.
