Don Felder, the former lead guitarist of the rock band Eagles, who replaced Bernie Leadon, is best remembered for his slide guitar work on the band’s song, “Hotel California”, which ultimately became one of the most recognizable solos in rock history.
Despite his contribution to the band’s success, he often felt constantly undervalued financially and creatively, as his bandmates, Henley and Frey, held a tight rein over the group’s direction and business decisions, a development he complained about, which resulted in his firing in 2001. Now, more than two decades after he was sent off the band, Felder reminisced about his relationship with his former bandmates.

While appearing on a recent episode of Sirius XM’s The Eddie Trunk Podcast, Felder opened up about the nature of his current relationship with his former Eagles bandmates. He noted that all their encounters have been as cordial as it can be, noting that he no longer harbors any lingering resentment for them as he had consciously chosen to let go of all the grudges as far back as 2000.
When asked whether his former bandmates shared the same sentiment with him, the “Fall from the Grace of Love” singer admitted he has not had the time to discuss the matter with them. However, he expressed gratitude for his continued creativity and professional opportunities, claiming that instead of dwelling on past conflicts, he deliberately chose to prioritize joy and artistic fulfillment by focusing on his own journey.
Don Felder reveals he is happy to reunite with former bandmates if offered the opportunity
The musician, who is set to embark on an exciting summer tour with Styx and Kevin Cronin while also preparing for the release of his highly anticipated album, The Vault—50 Years of Music, which is scheduled to be out on May 23, revealed that while he and his former bandmates are on good terms, he has not been invited to join their ongoing Las Vegas residency.
Showcasing his free nature, Felder emphasized that if Don Henley were to extend an invitation, he would gladly accept and honor the opportunity to reunite on stage, even though it is pretty unlikely.
