Michael’s latest nomination is from the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards. His holiday classic “Last Christmas,” which he wrote, arranged, and sang at age 21, has been nominated in the Most Performed Work category. This posthumous honor adds to his rich legacy as one of Britain’s finest songwriters.

Although originally released in 1984, “Last Christmas” has found renewed life. It recently topped the UK Singles Chart on Christmas Day for two consecutive years and reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. This longevity emphasizes the timeless nature of Michael’s songwriting and explains why the awards continue to roll in.
