It is a season of major achievements for Dolly Parton. The country music legend is adding another feather to her hat with the release of a new book. The 79-year-old icon will publish “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage” this November, completing her autobiographical trilogy with a look back at seven decades of unforgettable live performances.
The announcement comes as fans rally behind a petition to rename the Nashville airport in her honor. With over 51,000 signatures and counting, the effort reflects Parton’s lasting impact, not just in music, but also in literature, philanthropy, and American culture at large.

“Star of the Show” is co-written with journalist Tom Roland and follows Parton’s previous books, “Songteller” and “Behind the Seams.” In it, she shares intimate memories from the stage, starting with her early collaborations with Porter Wagoner and rising through her solo success with hits like “Here You Come Again.”
The memoir also touches on her acting debut in 9 to 5, sold-out headline tours, and her 2023 NFL halftime performance. Along the way, she revisits moments spent with longtime collaborators and friends, including Kenny Rogers and Linda Ronstadt.
Dolly Parton will narrate the book
The deluxe edition of “Star of the Show: My Life on Stage” includes over 350 full-color photographs and a fold-out performance list. Parton will narrate the audiobook version herself, to be released through Penguin Random House Audio.
On Instagram, she described the book as “a celebration of my journey as a performer,” filled with never-before-seen photos and cherished stories. But even as fans anticipate the book, many are turning attention to another tribute: renaming an airport after her. In addition to her music and writing, Parton’s Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library have mailed over 270 million books to children worldwide.
