The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Alum Lisa Rinna has shared insights into one of the most painful chapters of her life, the loss of her beloved father, Frank Rinna, in 2016. Before his demise, Frank battled several health challenges, which were not only physically debilitating but also mentally draining, leaving him tired of his life, thus leading him to make a drastic decision to end his life.
Now, nearly a decade since his death, the 61-year-old, in a new interview, has spoken about her father’s final days, detailing the circumstances that surrounded his demise as well as the reason behind his decision.
Lisa Rinna shares details about her father Frank Rinna’s death by assisted suicide
During a March 28 episode of her Let’s Not Talk About the Husband podcast with her husband, Harry Hamlin, Lisa made a shocking revelation that her father died by assisted suicide. She noted that at the time of his death, Frank’s health had deteriorated, which made him emotionally distressed, making him seek a legal way to terminate his life to end his suffering as quickly as possible.
Lisa’s husband also explained that his father-in-law was in severe pain. Thus, he decided to exploit Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act, a law that allows terminally ill people to make decisions to end their lives on their terms.
Lisa Rinna says her father was determined to end his life
Lisa revealed that despite her father’s health status, she struggled initially to come to terms with his decision to pursue assisted suicide. However, she and her half-sister respected his choice, especially since her mother had also given her nod to the procedure.
The Soap Talk host explained that the process spanned three to six months, requiring authorization from two doctors who could confirm the nature of her dad’s illness before approving the procedure to be carried out. Rinna noted that she was pretty surprised about her dad’s eagerness to end his life so much that when the medication did not arrive on the agreed date, he was visibly angry.
