Six months after announcing their separation, That ’70s Show star Laura Prepon and her husband, actor Ben Foster, have witnessed their divorce proceedings devolve into a bitter legal battle. The couple, who had initially cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, are currently immersed in a serious dispute, with their respective legal teams firing accusations at each other in court.
The once-private dissolution of their marriage has now become a high-profile feud, drawing attention to the challenges and emotional toll their separation is taking on them.
Inside Laura Prepon and ex-husband Ben Foster’s divorce battle
Recently, Foster filed an amendment to his divorce petition in a Nashville, Tennessee court, adding allegations of “inappropriate marital conduct” against his estranged wife. In the legal documents, the 44-year-old accused Prepon of cruel treatment, claiming that her behavior made their continued cohabitation unsafe. Prepon swiftly responded a day later with a counterclaim, denying Foster’s allegations and countering with similar accusations of cruel treatment and habitual drunkenness against him during their six-year marriage.
She also challenged the actor’s request for joint custody of their two children, arguing that she should be named the primary residential parent, which she claims is in the kids’ best interest. She insisted on properly scrutinizing Foster’s claim that they were both fit to cater to the children.
Laura Prepon joins the list of ‘That ’70s Show’ cast facing legal troubles
Prepon is not the only That ’70s Show star facing legal woes. Danny Masterson, the brother of Christopher Masterson, whom she was once in a relationship with until their split in 2007, was convicted in May 2023 on two counts of forcible rape. The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred in the early 2000s.
Despite maintaining his innocence, the 49-year-old who portrayed the character of Steven Hyde in the teen sitcom was sentenced to 30 years in prison in September 2023.
