She contacted Adult Protective Services and law enforcement and asked for Williams to be removed from the isolating environment. When officers arrived, Williams reportedly felt anxiety but saw an opportunity. She requested to be taken to a hospital, where she underwent competency evaluations by independent doctors.

According to Monterrosa, Williams successfully passed two medical assessments, proving her ability to make decisions for herself. However, her legal battle remains ongoing.
