Jane Seymour, an ex-Bond girl who played Solitaire in Live and Let Die, has given her take on a significant change in the James Bond franchise. Co-starring with Roger Moore in his Bond film debut in 1973, Seymour was a clairvoyant who helped Bond uncover an evil plot.

The role was one of her leading parts, marking her first significant role forever in the franchise and Hollywood. Now, two decades later, the James Bond franchise is off in a different direction. When asked about this switch, Seymour reflected on what she thinks this means for the legendary spy and the James Bond legacy she used to belong to.

In recent news, Amazon said it had gained creative control of the James Bond franchise, in a deal shifting some of the decision-making authority away from veteran producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. For decades, Broccoli and Wilson managed the heritage of Bond respectfully, staying faithful to the tradition.

Now that Amazon is in control, the future of 007 can be confidently reinvented unlike before. Given its vast streaming service and its central Hollywood power, Amazon can actually transform the franchise with innovative concepts and modern day fashion that strays from what everyone is used to.

While others are worried about future changes, Seymour is optimistic about the new update. She sees this as a natural evolution of the franchise and sees that things have evolved. She believes that Bond will be alright, calling it a franchise that people will always love.

Seymour also reflected on her own experience playing a Bond girl, saying she’s happy to have been included. She played Solitaire when she was just 20, when the films were being strictly faithful to Ian Fleming’s novels. She even went as far as to say she’d be happy to work again as a part of the James Bond franchise if the opportunity arose.
