Kathy Bates made one of the hottest topics at this year’s Golden Globe Award ceremony. From looking frail and shaking on stage, possibly due to drastic weight loss, and having a shocking reaction to who won Best Actress in a TV series, she gave fans a lot to talk about after.
Kathy Bates was nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series for her role in Matlock, and presenters Salma Hayek and Colman Domingo eventually announced Anna Sawai as the recipient of the award. She clapped before staring at the camera and ripping up a piece of paper that seemed to be her acceptance speech.
Kathy Bates’ ‘Matlock’ was up for the Golden Globes this year
Kathy played the role of Madeline “Matty” Matlock, who joins a law firm under the guise of a widowed lawyer after decades of retirement and after being left in financial ruin by her late husband’s gambling troubles. She also has to take care of her grandson after her daughter died in a car accident.
Kathy’s character is quick and keen on spotting details others miss, and she has become a natural fan favorite. “Kathy Bates as Matlock is really good. I thought it was just gonna be a procedural drama, and it’s much better,” a fan commented on X.
Kathy Bates’ Golden Globes wins over the years
