Cybill Shepherd Reflects On Her Career, Including Involvement With Elvis

Only very few stars in Hollywood have the same versatility as Cybill Shepherd. From being a magazine cover model to becoming an actor, Cybill Shepherd’s journey is a testament to her talent and resilience. She made her debut with the 1970 classic The Last Picture Show, directed by Peter Bogdanovich, who would later become her boyfriend.

Cybill Shepherd’s acting skills became recognized by fans in the 1970s, especially when she starred in movies like The Heartbreak Kid, a comedy by Elaine May, and Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. Her roles in these movies made her ability to transition between different genres without effort noticeable to fans. She then continued her partnership with Bogdanovich in Daisy Miller and the musical At Long Last Love.

In the 1980s, Cybill Shepherd experienced another breakthrough in her career, and she became a household name. She acted alongside Bruce Willis in Moonlighting, the undeniably interesting comedy series, and later appeared in other projects like Chances Are, Cybill, and The L Word.

Beyond acting, Cybill Shepherd has always had a passion for music. This began in her childhood, but she did not stop there; she pursued a music career and released an album, Cybill Gets Better, featuring Stan Getz.

Her recent recognition at the Palm Springs International Comedy Festival also shows her impact on the entertainment industry, particularly comedy. When asked about her love for Palm Springs, she replied, “Well, I just love Palm Springs. Just going there and seeing people. They’re giving me an award for comedy, and I think that’s incredible because I never won an Emmy.”

In the same interview, she shared stories about her work, her respect for Carol Burnett, and memories of other stars like Bruce Willis. She also created anecdotes about Elvis Presley, whom she briefly dated. Reflecting on him, she said, “I was attracted to him, and his legend was part of him. You can’t separate the two.”

Even at 74, She has a beautiful ability to carry her viewers along, whether through movies, television, or live music. She told fans about her love for what she does, “I like to make people laugh, and I like to touch them, to get a chance to touch their hearts.”
