Rocky Colavito died on Tuesday at 91, and the news was made public by the Cleveland Guardians. “Beloved by fans, Rocky spent eight of his fourteen MLB seasons with Cleveland. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends during this time,” the team’s statement read.

He was one of the 18 players in baseball history to hit four home runs in one MLB game while playing for Cleveland. According to the tribute from his team, he also represented them in three All-Star Games, finishing top-5 in MVP voting on three occasions.

With MLB fans paying tribute on social media to a certain “Rocky,” Sylvester Stallone fans had their hearts skip a beat because they assumed he was dead. One of Stallone’s most famous roles was Rocky Balboa in the Rocky franchise, hence the frenzy of his fans.

Upon learning who actually passed away, Stallone’s fans took to social media again to share their relief. “Naw you say Rocky died I’m thinking Sylvester Stallone. That’s my dawg so they need to stop playing with Rocky like that,” an X user posted. “Millennials thought Sylvester Stallone,” another speculated.

What happened to Rocky Colavito?

The cause of Colavito’s death has not been officially declared, but rumors say he died of pneumonia. He played for Cleveland from 1955 to 1959, after which he got traded, to the dismay of fans. He returned to the team in the mid-60s due to the void he left behind. He remains a legend when it comes to Cleveland’s baseball history.

Stallone, on the other hand, is doing just fine, having posted a silhouette photo of his character Rocky Balboa’s statue on Instagram the same day Colavito was confirmed dead. “Back in Philly at the top of the steps, could not be more proud, thank you,” he wrote.
