With the wave of nostalgia lately towards old keepsakes, people might just have valuable things they consider forgotten in their attic. They were likely worth a few dollars at the time of purchase; however, they could make a fortune when valued today.
The ‘70s have been a decade of interest for a while now, being the time that marked a rich music, movie, and fashion culture. It also saw socio-cultural, political, and technological advancement, which were portrayed in entertainment material. Here are some items from the ‘70s that could sell for a good amount of dollars today;
Breakfast cereal boxes
While many may have thrown out their cereal boxes after exhausting the content, you’re in luck if you managed to keep yours. They now sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars on sites like eBay. One of the sought-after ones includes Bruce Jenner’s Olympic-era Wheaties boxes, which sell between $200 and $500.
Comic books
Amazing Spider-Man issue no. 124 in good condition sold for $4, 000 on eBay recently. It was also valued that high because it featured The Punisher’s debut. Comic books with first-time appearances of fan-favorite characters fetch more than regular ones, just like neat copies over tattered ones.
VHS tapes
VHS tapes of hit movies that were never remade into other media are selling hot. A copy of 1974’s Dr. Frankenstein’s Castle of Freaks sold for $2100 on eBay in 2016.
The Apple-1 computer

A functioning model of the original Apple-1 computer is worth nearly half a million dollars today. The piece of technology debuted in 1976 and was sold as a bare circuit board that needed a casing, keyboard, power supply, and monitor.
Sports trading cards
Sports trading cards are also among the high-value keepsakes, depending on what players you own. Hockey’s Wayne Gretzky’s rookie card from the late ‘70s auctioned for $465,000 at the National Sports Collection Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Action figures
Kenner Products was the company behind Star Wars action figures until they shut down. Toys from the company in its original packaging are worth thousands of dollars today, with the Luke Skywalker figure with a double-telescoping lightsaber deemed the most valuable, having sold for $25,000 at Sotheby’s in 2016.
Lunchboxes
Might not seem like much, but old-school lunch boxes are going for thousands of dollars on auction sites. The valued ones so far include the original Smokey Bear one and the King Seeley Yellow Submarine one from the late ‘60s.
