World War III Jacket

A woman, Gillian, recently found an antique in her father’s closet; little did she know that this seemingly ordinary find would turn out to be a crucial piece of American history when she decided to part with it at a pawn shop.

Gillian stumbled on the rare gem — a black leather jacket adorned with numerous patches — while assisting her father, an avid collector of vintage leather jackets. The front pocket had the word “Mac” written on it, and on the back, a majestic eagle with the name “The Battered Bastards of Bagstone” above it, and below it was the name of a parachute troop.

Intrigued by the possibility that it might be a biker jacket from WWI or WWII, judging by the inscription, she saw an opportunity to make money from it. She proceeded to visit the renowned Gold & Silver pawnshop, where she received the shock of her life.

When the jacket was taken to the pawnshop, Chumlee, the shop owner, keenly observed its distinct features, noting a European cut rather than the typical American style. Intrigued, he enlisted the expertise of Alex Cranmer, the CEO of International Military Antiques, for a more in-depth analysis that led to more exciting discoveries.

Gillian discovers the jacket is original WWII memorabilia

Cranmer explained that the coat held significant historical value; the inscription on it: “Battered Bastards of Bastogne,” was linked to the Battle of the Bulge while also referencing the 101st Airborne Division. “If you’re going to have something from WWII is referencing an American victory, it’s Bastogne or Normandy,” Cranmer admitted. “But this is both.”

The specialist disclosed additional details, suggesting that the jacket likely belonged to a German pilot who may have been captured by an American soldier. Due to the item’s rarity, Cranmer appraised its value at $12,000. Gillian sold it at Cranmer’s International Military Antiques, though the amount remains undisclosed.
