Judy Garland’s second daughter, Lorna Luft, could not hold back her verdict on Wicked, as she took to Instagram to gush about the upcoming movie. This came after the New York screening of the Jon M. Chu-directed film, which is an adaptation of the hit Broadway musical The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Lorna posted candid photos from the event, including a couple with Jon, and accompanied it with a lengthy note capturing her thoughts. “This movie is astounding! It’s epic, brilliant, touching, and honest. It is breathtaking to look at,” she started.

The 71-year-old did not forget to praise lead actresses Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, as she gushed about their vocals and chemistry in the movie. “They take you on an emotional roller coaster, and you better hold on tight,” she warned. Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum were not left out either, as Lorna teased how good Wicked will do once it debuts.
Fans react as Lorna Luft gushes about ‘Wicked’
Eager fans took to Lorna’s comments with high anticipation for November 22, when Wicked is scheduled to hit US theaters. “I’m so excited to see this film. I’ve been a lifelong fan of Wizard of Oz and your mother,” someone replied, praising Lorna’s mother, Judy. “As a child I would watch Wizard of Oz on repeat.”
Judy famously played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, singing evergreen classics like “Over the Rainbow” in the hit musical. “It is definitely a great counterpart to the original Oz film we all love so much. Ariana and Cynthia are welcomed wholeheartedly to the Oz Hall of Fame next to your dear Mama!” a second fan exclaimed.
