TikToker Maddy Bill from Ambler in Pennsylvania is going viral on the social media platform for trying on her grandmother’s outfits from the ‘50s. Her grandmother, Marie D’Alessandro Donato, left a green suitcase full of clothes from her honeymoon, and Bill decided to have fun with them.
The 27-year-old told Good Morning America that her mother kept the suitcase for her and her sister, as they both had memories of it growing up. The contents included dresses, tops, and accessories that fit Bill like they were tailored for her.

91-year-old Marie saved the suitcase to honor the memories created with her late husband, Anthony James Donato, who died two decades ago. She wanted the daughters in her lineage to experience the feeling of love from her honeymoon in the ’50s Manhattan City in a tangible way and is glad that the world gets to witness them do so.
Bill showed off each of the pieces during her viral try-on haul, noting that they were all still intact. There was a black buttoned short-sleeved dress that showed off her curves, a striped top and matching gray jacket and skirt set, and some blouses Bill claims to have put on for previous special occasions.
Fans react to the handed-down ‘50s clothes
Thanks to her try-on series, Bill and her grandmother have acquired a budding fan base on TikTok, and millions of viewers are anticipating her posts. Her appearance on Good Morning America made her even more popular, as older folks not on TikTok got a dose of nostalgia from the news.
Bill hopes to continue the tradition by saving the clothes for her future daughters or a younger special person. “Proof that everything comes back in style at many different times in your life,” someone reacted after watching Bill’s TV appearance, while others commended Marie’s good taste in fashion.
