A woman from China has social media in shock after showing off a horn growing out of her head. Chen, 107, went viral after her video made it to her country’s version of TikTok—Douyin. Despite the worrisome growth of about four inches long, Chen has enjoyed good health and aged well.
Viewers shared their thoughts about the horn, with some crediting it for her long life, calling it the “longevity horn.” While most people would opt for surgery to have unusual growths as such removed, Chen has no plans to do so, and most of her country folk online agree.

Doctors say the growth is a cutaneous horn, which is likely an effect of prolonged sun exposure. They added that it is benign; however, it has a risk of turning malignant and should be monitored. Health experts revealed that such protrusions are rare and mostly occur in areas like the face, ears, hands, toes, and sometimes the penis.
Chen seems not to mind the noticeable horn on her forehead, but she is full of life at 107. Reactions have varied from fascination to curiosity, with some suggesting that she apply for the Guinness World Records. “I wish everyone would live this long,” someone else added, commending her longevity.

Chen is not the first to make headlines for having a horn, as a 74-year-old man named Shyam Lal Yadav from India had an equally long one surgically removed in 2019. According to experts, the growth site may also require a skin graft to cover the post-surgery wound, and in some cases, radiation and chemotherapy can be applied.
A Douyin user also revealed that their grandmother had a growth on her head but died two days after removing it at the hospital. The growth has not affected Chen’s daily life so far, aside from the stares she gets when out in public.
