Mary ‘Molly’ Repper smoked about 20 packs of cigarettes daily until she turned 95, and according to her doctor’s report, she has a healthy pair of lungs and a sound heart. Mary recently turned 100, so friends and family joined her to celebrate at Weston View Care Home in Moray. Scotland.

Joining in the celebration were her children Beatrice and John, who came in from London with their partners and spent time gushing about their interesting mother. Mary lived an intriguing life across different locations and career paths, including the medical and educational field.

Beatrice said her mother was impressive with numbers and would calculate the total of her shopping before the cashier finished up at the till. Sometimes, the sums would turn out wrong, and Mary never passed up a chance to make that known.

More praise for Mary

Jim noted that his mother’s health was a big concern since she smoked regularly, but the doctors have confirmed her organs to be in good condition. He also recalled how Mary suffered a fall that led to a fractured hip, adding that she fought through the tough period.

Molly has been married to George, who fought in World War II, since 1947, and the duo have been happy together ever since. After George retired from service in 1973, they both moved from London to a former police station in Knock. Although Molly is in good shape despite her consistent smoking for most of her life, it still remains that the practice is detrimental to one’s health and is a leading cause of lung cancer.
