‘Friends’ Stars Turn Down Participating In Biopic About Matthew Perry

Before his death, Matthew Perry spoke about a biopic to follow up his first and last memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. Although the actor is dead, there is a possibility that the film will be brought to life soon; however, not all the expected participants seem interested.

Recent updates reveal that Perry’s Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc have turned down the offer to appear in his documentary, stating that they are yet to get over his tragic passing.

Around the time of his memoir release, Perry noted that none of his Friends co-stars, except for Kudrow who wrote the foreword, had read Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. As unsupportive as this may have sounded, Perry seemed to be fine with it, adding that he did not expect otherwise.

While defending his castmates-turned-friends, he rhetorically asked if anyone cared, noting that fans would, addicts would, but not his colleagues. Kudrow, on the other hand, was touched by the story, which she reveals was her first time learning the depths of surviving addiction.

The late actor spilled a few ‘Friend-ly’ secrets

There was no way Perry could avoid writing about his all-time favorite work colleagues from the classic NBC series— most notably Aniston, who he admitted to crushing on at first sight. Despite getting rejected, Perry remained smitten by her until it wore off in their friendship.

She was the first of the group to confront him about his addiction, telling him it was obvious because they could smell it. Perry’s battle with drug use and frequent rehab stays cost him up to $9 million between 1994 and 2004, and even his life when his colon nearly burst a few years ago. Sadly, he would die from this same vice at 54.
