Paul McCartney caught the attendees of a recent show at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, by surprise and performed the Beatles hit song of 1963, “I Saw Her Standing There.” The attendees were pleased to see the Fab Four’s frontman as he strutted the stage in a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt.
Joining Paul for the impromptu act were the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, producer Andrew Watt, and guitarist G.E. Smith. Watt posted the wholesome moment to his Instagram, featuring Paul singing the chorus as he put his hand on Watt’s shoulder.

More on Paul’s pleasant surprise
According to Three Miles Media’s Ryan Sherman, Paul delivered one of the coolest performances he had ever experienced and left the stage with a dramatic mic drop. Meanwhile, limited screening for Paul’s Paul McCartney and Wings—One Hand Clapping begins this week to give viewers a look into rare footage from the band’s hits.
The Hampton performance of “I Saw Her Standing There” got more praise from the likes of Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath and Flea from Hot Chili Peppers. The classic was written by Paul and his late bandmate John Lennon in 1963 for their debut UK album Please Please Me.
