‘Hollywood Squares’ Set To Reboot Following Recent Death Of Longtime Original Host

Hollywood Squares longtime show host Peter Marshall died recently at 98 from kidney failure. He was said to have been surrounded by loved ones at the time in his Los Angeles home. This comes after CBS announced the reboot of the game show in May.

Ahead of the premiere in January 2025, fans are being teased with what to expect, as comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias posed with center-square Drew Barrymore on set and shared it to his Instagram. Behind them were stacked cubes reminiscent of the show’s original version from the ‘60s.

Who to expect on ‘Hollywood Squares’

Behind Fluffy were stacked squares showing names of celebrities like former NFL player Akbar Gbajabiamila of The Talk, Vicki Lawrence, Kristen Schall, Yvette Nicole Brown, Oliver Hudson, Mario Cantone, Tichina Arnold, Beth Behrs, and comedians Tig Notaro and  Whitney Cummings.

Fluffy’s excitement was undeniable as he posed at different areas on the set, including his own 3 by 3 square where he threw up the peace hand sign. He walked around in his blue shirt and black hat, and then took a selfie video with Drew, who pouted excitedly at the camera.

Another hoped they would dedicate premiere week to the original Squares master, Marshall, to honor his legacy. CBS president George Cheeks confirmed Drew as Marshall’s replacement back in May, noting that she was the right fit as they sought a diehard fan of the show with old-school elements and the right personality.
