Madonna’s words from a 1991 interview still haunt her today as she made derogatory comments about her fans and their bodies. She was in her thirties at the time and was telling The Washington Post about her stay in Los Angeles.
She highlighted how the city gave her much needed privacy, but complained about having to sometimes deal with obsessive fanatics. The Queen of Pop expressed gratitude for those who stop to praise her in public, but fans were not having it with what ensued.

Fans react to Madonna’s body-shaming comments
Madonna’s comments let fans down, and they did not hide their disappointment as they bashed the singer via X. “That last part is so embarrassing for her,” someone responded, and many others agreed, deeming her nasty. At the same time, Italians criticize Madonna for spending €30,000 to have the Teatro Grande Amphitheater to herself.
They compared her words to that of Chappell Road, who recently scolded some fans for feeling entitled to a selfie whenever she is out in public. “If you’re mad about what Chappell Roan said on TikTok, you’re gonna hate what Madonna said in The Washington Post 30+ years ago,” someone warned.
