Celine Dion Gears Up For More Gigs After Iconic Paris Olympic Performance

Celine Dion made an unforgettable comeback at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony in France after a forced career hiatus due to her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis. The 56-year-old fought to serenade her fans once again and is determined to do even more performances in the coming months.

A source revealed that Dion’s rendition of Édith Piaf’s “Hymne A L’Amour” on the Eiffel Tower has inspired her to take on more gigs. She plans to fully come out of retirement while effectively managing the rare illness that affected her vocal cords in the past year.

Rumors have circulated that she earned millions of dollars for the recent gig. However, the Olympic organizers clarified that no act has been paid for showing up so far. Dion did it out of passion for her fans, sheer love for her craft, and, in the program committee’s words, a desire to participate in the historic event.

More feats to follow

Multiple recognitions and accolades have marked Dion’s career for her diligence, including six Grammys, Juno Awards, Billboard Awards and much more. Her chart-topping songs have remained evergreen through generations, even whilst away from the music scene.

After the Olympic performance, two of her works, “Set My Heart on Fire” and the My Love: The Essential Collection compilation, made the top 40 in the UK. Away from the fame, Dion is a dedicated mother to three children, Rene-Charles Angelil and twin boys Nelson and Eddy, from her only marriage to the late Rene Angelil.
