Following her rendition of “Hymne A L’Amour” for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Celine Dion had a feel of Paris and caught up with several fans in the waiting crowd. The singer received an outpouring of love from her supporters, who were moved by her determination to sing again despite battling a rare condition that stifles her voice.
The 56-year-old sent social media into a wholesome frenzy with a selfie video of herself and some attendees, though the clip was intended to be a photo judging by how everyone struck a pose and waited for Celine’s cue.
The seven-second clip of Celine making the selfie-turned-video went viral on X after media outlet Pop Crave uploaded it. The post got over 3 million views and hundreds of thousands of likes, with fans in the comments appreciating Celine’s endearing nature. “That’s adorable and wholesome,” someone responded.
Some told the singer that a video was much better for memories and taught her to take screenshots while the video played if she wanted some still shots. “Honestly smart because then you can grab your still at the point when everyone looks the best,” a second person said.
While discussing her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome months ago, Celine shared her dream to perform at the Eiffel Tower and promised an iconic comeback. Celine’s singing was nothing short of excellent, such that one would not notice she has an ailment that affects her vocal cords.
She remained determined for a comeback, saying she was ready to crawl on stage or talk with her hands if it came to that. Her recently released documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, gave more details about her fight with the ravaging rare disease, with one of her muscle spasm episodes included.
Celine’s supporters were moved to tears by her new reality and prayed for her recovery. Her grand re-emergence was a healing moment for many who were still yet to get over the Paris Olympics opening night rendition.
