Jennie Garth is now baring it all about her health after years of suffering in silence. The actress took to social media to update fans about her current state and how much pain she has been through since her diagnosis and recurring visits to the operating room.
The 52-year-old revealed that she underwent two hip replacement surgeries— one in 2020 and the other in March. Jennie admitted in her lengthy Instagram post that her condition grew worse through the years, and she can no longer keep quiet about it.
Jennie Garth was nervous about announcing the truth of her health
Jennie noted that she stalled on informing the public about her hip and joint pains because of the stigma surrounding it. Despite growing up enjoying activities like horseback riding and dancing, she has lived with the pain for many years and was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in her mid-40s.

She ignored the pain for a while until a family ski trip where she could barely participate, leading her to get tested just before COVID-19 hit. The lockdown contributed to her surgery being a secret, and she kept it so with hopes of getting back to her normal life flawlessly. Sadly, Jennie’s hip began to hurt again earlier this year, landing her right back in the theater.
Jennie Garth receives support from fans
Jennie’s decision to open up has paid off, as evidenced by the positive feedback on her podcast and now in her social media comments. She is grateful to have become a source of hope for people like her and is happy to embrace her reality with her newfound support system.
Since her heartbreaking update, fans have reached out with encouraging words, commending her resilience amid the health struggle. “I am even a bigger fan of yours now, JG. Thank you for sharing your story,” a kind user said. “I’m currently 8 days post op, and I’m 50. It makes me feel so much better knowing you had both done and you are moving and exercising and look better than ever!” another added.
