Jerry Seinfeld’s 18-Year-Old Son Poses With Rarely Seen Family And Siblings At Graduation

Jerry Seinfeld’s youngest child, Shepherd Kellen Seinfeld recently graduated high school, with family present to celebrate him. His mom, Jessica Seinfeld shared photos from the event on her Instagram, featuring herself, Jerry, and the other kids Sascha and Julian surrounding Shepherd.

The group snap sparked reactions among Jessica’s followers, not for the heartwarming occasion, but because Shepherd held a lit cigar in one hand. Many called out Jerry and Jessica for condoning such freedom, while a few thought lightly of it and cheered the teen on.

Reactions to the Seinfelds’ family picture

Jessica accompanied the controversial shot with more slides showing a flip phone, a minimalist phone, and a black-and-white photo of Shepherd alone. Her caption explained that Shepherd got a flip phone for graduation in hopes that he would turn in his current smartphone. She added that Shepherd got his first device at 12, and in retrospect, she should have waited two more years.

Many users in the comments seemed more concerned about the lit cigarette between Shepherd’s fingers than the smartphone talk. Someone defended the young boy, noting that it was simply “a celebratory act invented by the great Celtics coach Red Auerbach.”

Jerry and Jessica welcomed Shepherd in August 2005, and though they mostly kept him off the public eye, he has been spotted on a few special outings, such as Jessica’s GOOD+ Foundation charity event at New York City’s Central Park in 2017. Unlike his older sister, Sascha, he is not on social media and seems to prefer his private lifestyle.

Being Jerry’s son means having an understanding father, as the iconic actor previously revealed his parenting style to be “cool.” He expressed his determination to not be a disapproving father by indulging his kids’ interests, which appears to have worked out fine so far. Sascha is a graduate of Duke University, while Julian is set to earn his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the same institution soon.
