Over 1.6 Million Fans Gather At Madonna’s Record-Breaking Concert In Brazil

Madonna’s Record-breaking Concert

To round off her Celebration Tour after performing in about 80 locations, pop icon Madonna held a free-for-all concert on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil— and the number of attendees had people talking. The grand finale show is reported to have drawn the most crowd of Madonna’s four-decade career.

According to Rio City Hall’s tourism agency, Riotur, about 1.6 million people were present to watch the Material Girl do her final gig. This beats her previous record of 130,000 attendees at Paris’ Parc des Sceaux in 1987 by a stretch.

The sixty-five-year-old did not fail to bring on her A-game with glamorous costumes, including the famous pink dress from her hit single, “Material Girl.” The show opened with 1998’s “Nothing Really Matters,” ushering in other classics like “Like a Prayer,” “Ray of Light,” “Hung Up,” and “Holiday” as the surreal night went on.

The mother of six complimented the scenery, calling it “the most beautiful place in the world.” Some stood on the balconies of their beachfront homes to watch the show, with others viewing from their boats, drones overhead, and on the cool beach sand. Diplo, Anitta, Pabllo Vittar, and Bob the Drag Queen also joined Madonna.

What’s next for Madonna?

Despite her longtime music career and that she is turning 66 in August, Madonna has no plans to drop the mic soon. The Grammy-winning singer clarified to V Magazine during an interview that she hardly even thinks about her age. “I just keep going. I will not stop,” she told the outlet. “I will continue until it dissolves.”

She has also left a legacy via her daughter, Lourdes Leon, who is grooming a music career of her own as well. The 27-year-old, who goes by the stage name Lohalol, has the support of her famous mom, whom she looks up to. As someone with experience in the challenging entertainment industry, Madonna has instilled in Leon the right ethics, such as looking beyond her appearance and privileged background.
